Idol Thoughts

Good news for all you Kristy Lee Cook fans...James, I'm talking to YOU!

David isn't the only Cook that will be making records.  Kristy Lee just signed on with Arista Nashville.  She'll be working with the same producer behind Carrie Underwood's hit "Jesus Take the Wheel."  Her first single, titled "Fifteen Minutes of Shame" will hit the airwaves August 11th.  She's going to be working on her album while touring with American Idol Live over the summer.  You can expect that album to hit shelves sometime this fall.

Well, I knew the time would come sooner or later... but what I'm about to tell you, still brings tears to my eyes.

David Cook...is off the market.

He's hooked up with Season 2 Alum Kimberly Caldwell.  Apparently she's been raving about him all season on her TV Guide Show "Idol Tonight."  She interviewed him one day and afterwards David asked her out...to which she gladly accepted.

Come on now.  I've been raving about him all season too.  If ONLY I could have gone to the Idol Finale.  I'll be sure and bring that up to my boss.  He stood in the way of true love.  HAHA.

Ok, so I'm totally kidding about the "true love" thing.  I wish him and Kimberly the best, and hope things work out for them.  I bet they make a cute couple, and as long as he's happy, then I'm happy.  HAHA.

So, the time has come to say goodbye to American Idol Season 7.  A season full of ups an downs...and emotional goodbyes... a season which proved to be one of the hardest to predict...and a season that made me a very happy lady.

I've decided to do a re-cap of what I thought of the season.  What were some of my favorite performances, and some of my least favorite.

I'll start with my biggest disappointment: As you know, if you kept up with my blog in the beginning, my initial favorite was David Hernandez...the first of the Final 12 to go home.  I honestly believe the reason he went home was the stripper controversy...because he was MUCH better than some of the other contestants that remained for the next few weeks.  So, I've looked back at some of his performances...and THIS was my favorite from the season.

The second to be sent home...Amanda Overmeyer.  I never was really a big fan of hers...so I wasn't surprised to see her go home.  She just wasn't meant for the American Idol competition.  She had her fun while it lasted, but again, I wasn't surprised.  THIS was my favorite performance of hers.

Chikezie was victim number three of this season.  I liked him, I really did.  He was a good performer, and he really had a lot of fun out on the stage...but he was too much like Ruben Studdard to ever make it very far.  American saw that, and that's why he left so early in the competition.  THIS was my favorite of his...he sang some amazing Luther Vandross.

Victim number four...Ramiele Malubay.  I predicted this one RIGHT ON.  I never really liked her, and I definitely think she should have gone home before Chikezie.  She was just a whiny little girl, kind of like David Archuleta.  She never once caught my attention.  I guess I HAVE to pick a favorite performance of hers, since I'm doing it for everyone else...so HERE it is.

When Michael Johns was chosed as the fifth contestant to be sent home, I was in total shock.  I think he was a great performer, and I just didn't expect him to be leaving the competition that quick.  He never really had a rough night, and he continually received praise from the judges, but for some reason, America decided it was time for him to go.  It was hard to pick just one, but THIS was my favorite.

Kristy Lee was contestant number six to be sent packing.  This broke our entertainment editor's heart.  Yes, she was pretty, but she just wasn't going to make it far.  She didn't have the ability to really sing anything other than country music, and we didn't need another Carrie Underwood to come out of this competition.  THIS was my favorite from her.

Victim number seven...Carly Smithson.  She was good, but not good enough to win the competition.  I didn't like her tattoos, but toward the end she started covering them up, and I tended to like her a lot more.  I really liked her style of singing, and I think, if she's lucky, she'll be able to get SOME sort of record deal out of this.  She definitely has the ability.  My favorite from her...HERE it is.

Next...Brooke White...number eight to head home.  I REALLY liked her in the beginning, but as the competition went on, my liking for her faded.  She had some amazing first performances, but she slowly just lost her shine.  She had several bad nights, forgot some lyrics, and American noticed.  HERE is my favorite from her.

The moment I had been waiting for for WEEKS...Jason Castro...the ninth contestant to head home.  This should have happened A LOT sooner.  He wasn't any good.  He looked like he was high 97% of the time, and he was CORNY.  He got to the point where he just didn't care.  He didn't listen to the mentors, and that hurt him big time.  This is another where it was hard for me to even come CLOSE to liking one of his performances, but HERE it is anyway.

So, Syesha Mercado is the tenth contestant to go home.  I liked her.  We didn't need another Jordin Sparks though.  I think she deserved being in the top 3 100%.  She'll make something of herself...even if it is on broadway.  THIS was my favorite performance of hers.

Then, it all came down to last night...when David Cook was crowned this season's American Idol.

So, I'll start with David Archuleta.  I never REALLY liked him, although he did have a few spectacular performances.  In my opinion, he was too young to take the title.  He was too inexperienced and immature.  My favorite performance of his...RIGHT here.

Then, the winner, David Cook.  I'm not going to get all detailed with him.  If you want to know what I think about him, just read last night's blog.  Needless to say, I think he is great.  He is the first "rock" artist to win American Idol, and I think he'll go pretty far.  It was REALLY hard for me to pick a favorite performance from him, so I'll just go with my Top Three.

NUMBER one.  NUMBER two.  NUMBER three.

So, that pretty much sums up the season.  I was right sometimes, I was wrong sometimes, but the fact that I predicted the eventual winner, AMAZES me.

And don't forget...the Top 10 hit the road this summer...starting July 1st...with the American Idols Live Tour.  Check out our American Idol section for more information!

I just wanted to pass this along to all of you "rockstars" out there.  Don't give up hope...you could just be the next American Idol.  haha.

This is David Cook's commerical for Guitar Hero.  It's great.

DAVID COOK!  WOW!  I'm in total shock right now.  I'm ashamed to say that I actually have tears in my eyes.  I actually had to change the first line to the blog after I had written it because I just KNEW Archuleta would win.  I KNEW it.  Wow.  I'm just speechless.  He deserved this so much, SO MUCH.  I finally picked a winner!  HAHA.  I'm just...in disbelief...100% shocked.  It just seemed like Archuleta's game for the past few weeks...but then again, the true Cook fans might have just waited until last night to vote...and maybe those people that DVR'd the show, took advantage of those extra 2 hours to vote.  Either way, CONGRATS David Cook.

I was also impressed and utterly shocked when Simon apologized to David Cook...saying that he was on the verge of disrespect last night.  Amazing.  Way to go Simon Cowell.

Oh, what I would have given to be at tonight's show.  I was thoroughly impressed with the performance's from some of today's top artists.  I felt like one of David Cook's life-long dreams came true when he got to sing with ZZTop.  That was just amazing.  Some of the "group" performances were pretty corny, but it was nice to see the original 12 back on stage together.  It was especially great to get to see my first love, as you all know, David Hernandez.  He's as beautiful as ever and can still steal my heart with his singing.

My favorite performance of the night had to be the final song from George Michael.  He's just spectacular.  He left me speechless.  I'll definitely be downloading that song once I finish writing this blog...along with several other performances from tonight...since, at midnight, all of this season's performances will be taken off of Itunes.  I've spent WAY too much money this season purchasing songs.

I've decided to do my own "American Idol Re-cap" blog tomorrow...so be expecting that.  I'll include my favorites from the season, and my not-so-favorites...and I'll unveil what I'll be blogging about next!  So, don't miss it!

First off…the introduction to this show was absolutely RIDICULOUS!  It was one of the most corny things I’ve ever seen.  I know that these final shows have been dubbed David vs. David…but to bring out the ENTIRE boxing theme was just a little dumb in my opinion.

I’m kind of sad that this season has come to an end, but I’m also glad that it’s going to be a while before I have to listen to Randy and his “Yo, yo, yo, dawg” comments.  It’s almost to the point where I don’t even want to LISTEN to his commentary anymore.  Then again, Paula is about on the same ladder rung.  She drives me insane with how much she seems like she’s either drunk, or on drugs.   I used to hate Simon, but this season, I’ve learned to love him.  I might not always agree with him, but most of the time, he’s pretty much right with what he has to say about the contestants.  He’s the only reason this show is still a hit.

Clive Davis chose the first song for the contestants tonight.  The second song is from the songwriting competition.  The third song is contestant’s choice.

David Cook #1- “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”

You really can’t come close to the immensity of U2.  However, I think Cook did an AMAZING job.  I also think he had a lot more makeup on tonight.  He was extraordinarily pretty.  Haha.  He worked the stage with this song, and made himself appear a true performer.  The girls love him.  This was his genre of music, and he “rocked the house” with this song.  Paula says: “You may not have found what you’re looking for, but we have found it David Cook.”  Simon says: “I thought it was phenomenal.”

David Archuleta #1- Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me

I thought his entrance into this song was pretty corny.  It must have been his dad’s idea.  HA!  Clive Davis picked the perfect song for him to kick off the night.  I think he did a great job.  I wasn’t surprised though.  This is his genre of music and I knew that he would have no trouble with the song.  This is probably one of my favorite performances of the season.  His voice seemed a lot more mature tonight for some reason.  Randy says: “It doesn’t matter what happens, this is one of the best performances of this season.”  Simon says: “I thought last week you were ok, I thought tonight’s performance was arguably the best you’ve done so far.  Taking everything into account, round one goes to Archuleta.”

David Cook #2- “Dream Big”

I like this turn in the competition.  It’s a song that no one has heard before, so it takes away all bias toward the likeness of the song.  I think Cook did a great job putting himself into this song.  He had a lot of fun and got to bring out the guitar, which I think is definitely his “security blanket.”  I really like this song as well.  It really fits into the competition lyric wise.  It proved to be another song where he really showed the performer in himself.  Paula says: “This is a great way to take a song we don’t know and fall in love with it.”  Simon says: “It’s supposed to be one of the winning songs, but it didn’t feel like a winning moment to me."

David Archuleta #2- “In This Moment”

I didn’t really like this song.  I also didn’t feel like Archuleta was putting his whole self into the song.  He wasn’t singing loud enough, and he seemed really tense.  He has to perform better than this if he expects to win come tomorrow night.  It was however, another song that fit perfectly into the competition lyric wise.  Plus, all the little teeny boppers loved it, so I guess he succeeded once again.  Paula says: “It doesn’t matter what song you’re singing, you’re on fire tonight.”  Simon says: “You definitely chose the better of the songs tonight.  Round Two goes to David Archuleta.”

David Cook #3- “The World I Know”

I think it was great for Cook to pick a song that he hasn’t sang on the show.  It shows his ability to learn something new, and not depend on a favorite from before.  I, myself, loved it.  This type of song has always been my favorite from him.  He’s just amazing, and even if he doesn’t win this show, I’ll be one of his biggest fans.  To be honest, I kind of hope he doesn’t win.  I think he could go much farther without having that “American Idol” title behind his name.  He ended this song AMAZINGLY by hitting that high note.  FANTASTIC.  Randy says: “One of the cool things about you, is that you’re showing people tonight a lot of different sides of David Cook.”  Paula says: “I truly applaud you David Cook.”  Simon says: “You are one of the nicest, most sincere contestants we’ve had.   This just wasn’t the song choice for you.  You should have done Billie Jean or Hello.”  You know, I don’t think he should have.  I mean, they were his BEST performances of the season, but like I said before, he walked out on a limb by choosing a song that he hadn’t sung before, and I think that just shows his amazing abilities.  He took it upon himself to learn ONE MORE SONG along with everything else that has been going on this last week in preparations for the final, and I think he deserves some credit for that.

David Archuleta #3- “Imagine”

I’m really disappointed that he chose to play it safe tonight.  I think that he should have come out of his comfort zone, and picked a song that he hadn’t sang before, just like Cook did.  He knew that the judges and America loved this song, so he figured he would be safe choosing it.  That really just drives me insane.  He WILL walk away with the title tomorrow night just because of this song.  Actually, I feel like every song tonight was a safe bet for him.  Being an entertainer isn’t about playing it safe.  It’s about taking risks and showing that you can do it.  I’m disappointed in Archuleta.  Randy says: “You are so good tonight; you are exactly what this show is about.”  Paula says: “You’ve left me speechless as I was the first time I heard you sing this song.”  Simon says: “Tonight, I think we’ve witnessed one of the great finalists.  In my opinion, you came out here tonight to win, and what we have witnessed is a knockout.”  Ok, so I disagree with ALL THREE JUDGES about Archuleta.  One of the former Idol Top 12 from season six talked about who he would want to win earlier today.  I agree with what he said 100%.  Here’s an excerpt from David Sligh: "I think Cook is going to take it.  I've never really gotten the Archuleta thing.  I think Cook is going to sell a lot of records, I'm still not sold on Archuleta's record selling potential it seems like he's like Rick Ghastly... remember that guy?  Never gonna to give you up (mocking singing) where he looks like he's 12 and sings like he's 50? I just don't  see that connecting with the Disney crowd you know?"

Well, tomorrow is the end, and I think David Archuleta will walk away with it all.  And like I've said, I think that will be the best thing for David Cook.  I'm excited about tomorrow's show though.  They are bringing back the final 12, which means my first love, David Hernandez, will be back!  haha.

Well, first off...that was a very emotional show.  Each one of their "hometown" visits almost brought me to tears.  Maybe I'm just a big baby!  HAHA.

Anyway, I"ve been predicting tonight's results for WEEKS now, so no big surprise here.  I knew that it was going to be Archuleta and Cook.  It's just going to be VERY hard next week if David Archuleta runs away with the title.  If he does, I honestly think that in the end, David Cook will be more successful that he is.  David Cook just has that ability that Archuleta doesn't have.

So, one more week to go...I hate waiting!

I'll be brief on my sports this time.  I just have one thing to say...GO STARS!  I know the chances of them going any farther in the playoffs is slim, but I still love them!

David Archuleta #1 - “And So It Goes”

Beautiful.  This was his style of song, and I’m sure that’s why Paula chose it.  She knew that his vocal range could handle it, and she wanted to help him showcase his abilities.  However, this being his type of music, if he does win Idol, he’s not going to make it very far.  Winning will be his 15 minutes of fame just like it was for Taylor Hicks.  I know I wouldn’t buy the CD.  Paula says: “It was a pure and stunning performance and tonight I really felt you were a storyteller.”   Simon says: “No surprises, it was a bit predictable.”

Syesha #1 – “If I Ain’t Got You”

She was very lucky that Randy was the judge to choose her song.  She did a great job.  I had no doubt that she would though.  She and Alicia Keys have the same type of voice, and I’m sure that’s why Randy chose this song for her too.  I would have liked to see her add her own special touch to the song.  She and David Archuleta both seemed to play it safe on the first songs.  Randy says: “I could see your heart beaming and smiling all the way down here.”  Simon says: “I wish Randy would have chosen something for you where you wouldn’t try to sound like the original.”

David Cook #1 – “First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”

When I first saw that he was going to sing this song, I was shocked.  I had never even heard of the song, but Simon had faith, so I figured it would be interesting.  When he sang that first note, I knew it was going to be a good performance.  He’s beautiful and he has a beautiful voice.  This was different from the previous songs he’s done, and I think that’s why Simon chose it.  It showed his wide vocal range and his ability to be a true performer.  What I thought the whole time was “man, I wish he would sing this to me.”  Haha.  Paula says: “That is one of my favorite songs, and now you’re the second favorite person that sings it.”  Simon says: “I thought it was one of your best performances to date.  This is what makes you brilliant because you take risks.  Round one goes to Cook and Cowell.”

David Archuleta #2 – “With You”

Wow, I was disappointed.  This was NOT anywhere close to his style.  I understand that he wanted to try something new, but this was not a good choice.  He made all the little teeny boppers scream, but he sure didn’t catch my attention.  Thank goodness he had a good performance on the first song.  This just shows that he couldn’t make it in today’s music scene.  Randy says: “I applaud the fact that you’re trying something new, but I’m not sure that was the right song.”  Simon says: “It was a little bit like a Chihuahua trying to be a tiger in so much as it’s not really you.  I thought it was all a bit awkward.”

Syesha #2 – “Fever”

She just has so much fun with the competition now, and that’s why she’s in the top 3.  I think she did an overall good job with this song.  She’s really grown since the beginning of this competition.  She’s gotten out of her bubble and isn’t as nervous as she used to be.  I wasn’t really sure what the chair was supposed to do.  It was a little distracting, but she did good other than that.  Haha.  Paula says: “Out of all the songs that you chose to sing, I’m surprised you picked this song.  It’s an interesting choice, but it doesn’t show me who Syesha is as an artist.”  Simon says: “I think you will probably regret this song choice tomorrow.”

David Cook #2 – “Dare You To Move”

I LOVE when he plays the guitar.  That just does it for me.  Even if the song isn’t that great, he still blows me away.  Like in this case, the song wasn’t that great, but I still loved the performance.  Something about this second round of songs just didn’t suit me.  I think each of the contestants could have done a better job.  Randy says: “It wasn’t your best tonight, a little pitchy baby.”  Simon says: “I think it wasn’t a great melodic song.”

David Archuleta #3 – “Longer”

I just noticed this tonight, during this song, but he squints A LOT.  I don’t know if he’s trying to keep from closing his eyes completely, but it’s really distracting.  Other than that, this was a decent performance.  It was more his thing than the previous song, and I think the producer’s did a good job picking this song for him.  They obviously want him to stay in this competition.  Randy says: “You can sing the phonebook, so it doesn’t matter.”  Simon says: “I thought the song and the lyrics was absolutely horrible.  It’s something you choose for like a 90 year old.”

Syesha #3 – “Hit Me Up”

This was a good choice for her, and something a bit more up tempo than she normally sings.  Another song that she had a lot of fun with.  This also showcased her amazing vocal range and ability to pretty much sing anything she sets her heart to.  This just makes it harder for me to choose who I want to go home this week.  Paula says: “You did the song very well.  Again, I just wanted to tell you, as much as I like it, it just doesn’t define you.”  Simon says: “You had your best moment last week.  I don’t think anything this week has topped that.”

David Cook #3 – “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing”

This is one of my favorite songs to start with, and for my favorite Idol to sing it just made it that much better.  I think this was by far one of my favorite performances of the season.  He’s a great performer, no matter what he sings.  He added his own special touch to the song, which is why he’s still in this contest.  He brings something extra special to the competition.  I think out of all the performances during tonight’s show, this is one that he enjoyed the most.  I’m in love.  Haha.  He definitely stole the show.  Randy says: “I love the song, it was ok for me.  Very predictable.”  Paula says: “David, see ya in the finals.”  Simon says: “David Cook wins the night.”

Now comes the hard part: my predictions.  I really think that they should just do a 3-way tie...and give all 3 the title.  I love David Cook to death, but I don't think America loves him as much as I do.  I think the teen girls are going to give David Archuleta the title.  I think Syesha will go home tomorrow, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a different contestant.  This show has just been full of surprises.

FINALLY!  That word pretty much sums it up.  Jason Castro's departure was way overdue.  He should have left WEEKS ago.  Now we can focus on the REAL competition between the remaining contestants...without having to deal with his goofy, dreadlocked self.

What's my prediction for the remaining weeks?  I think, keyword being think, Syesha will go home next, followed by David Cook, then David Archuleta.  That's not what I WANT, but I think that's what will happen.

So long Jason, go back to Aggieland where you belong.

Well, my Rockets are out of playoffs, but at least they put up a good fight along the way.  And I've recently jumped on the Stars bandwagon.  I watched game 6 the other night, the 5 and a half hour one...and I fell in love.  So, go Stars and go Celtics.

David Cook-

He looked like a true concert performer for the first song.  I thought he did a great job, even though there were some rough parts.  This is his genre, and I think that helped him a lot tonight.  He’s still as adorable as ever.  Simon says: “Is it good enough at the moment to probably get you to next week?   Yes.”  The second song, I believe, was much better than the first.  He’s just great…and I will still run off to Oklahoma once this competition is over and kidnap him…haha.  I love these types of songs that he does.  They are mostly slow songs…and the tempo gradually increases, and he does a great job.  He really showed his vocal abilities tonight, and I still feel like he will be in the final two.  If he’s not, America is CRAZY.  Simon says:  “Welcome back David Cook.”

Syesha-

She had a lot of fun with the first song.  I think she did a great job, and really let herself out.  She has such a wide vocal range and I think this song showed that once again.  Her little dance moves were CLASSIC.  She’s really started to enjoy this competition and it shows, and I think that’s what has kept her in this long.  Randy says: “You’re showing the heat late in the competition when you need it.”  The second song was great as well.  She looked really beautiful tonight.  She was really in her element this week, and I hope that keeps her in the runnings, and knocks Jason out.  She really understood the meaning of the song, which made her overly emotional, but also gave her that extra connection to the song, making it that much better.  Paula says: “Welcome to your dream Syesha, this is it for you.”

Jason-

Go home already.  I mean, he’s obviously on drugs, he sang a Marley song, and we ALL know what that means.  He’s getting worse and worse every week, and for some reason, America keeps voting for him.  I’m just worried that Syesha is going to go home before him, and that’s not right.  Stop voting America, just STOP!  Randy says: “For me, that was a really karaoke Bob Marley.”  The second song was even worse.  I know that seems impossible, but somehow, he pulled it off.  Wow.  He forgot words, and he sounded awful, and…I don’t even know what else to say.  Simon couldn't have said it better: “Jason, I’d pack your suitcase.”

David Archuleta-

Well, he pretty much had my support from the beginning on the first song.  This was one of my favorite older songs.  I think he did a great job, and this was definitely “his song.”  Other than the little teeny boppers, this is why he’s still in the competition.  One thing that did bother me…he has these little faces that he makes when he sings…they drive me NUTS!  Simon says, in reference to Jason Castro's song: “You could’ve whistled the song and it would have sounded better than the last song.”  The second song was another one of my favorites.  I think Archuleta actually won me over tonight.  I wasn’t all that annoyed, and I was overall impressed.  He did a good job tonight, and again, this is what is going to make him remain at the top.  Simon says:“You crushed the competition.”

So, who do I think is going home tomorrow?  I'd love for it to be Jason, but, I'm afraid its going to be Syesha.  For some reason, people just aren't voting for her.  She's been in the bottom for 4 weeks now, and I'm worried that this might be the end for her.  She doesn't deserve to go home at all, so hopefully that won't happen.

Here's my prediction for the rest of the season:  Syesha goes, Jason goes, David Cook goes, David Archuleta wins.  That's not what I WANT to happen, but I'm afraid that's what WILL happen.

So, Brooke says goodbye.  Am I surprised?  Not so much.  However, when Jason Castro got to go sit on the couch because he was safe, I just about fell out of my chair.  He REALLY needs to go home.  I definitely would have rather seen Brooke stay another week and him sent home.

Next week's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame show should be fun.

First off, a sincere apology to all the Mavs fans out there.  Maybe next year.  And as of right now, things are looking good for my Rockets, so keep your fingers crossed!

As for the American Idol world...doesn't the saying go "first is worst, second is best?"  or something like that.  Well, that definitely rang true tonight.

Jason-

He’s just dumb.  End of story.   He just sounds like a whiny little teenage boy, and that drives me INSANE!  But, that’s kinda what Neil Diamond sounds like to me, so I guess it worked for him.  The first song was alright, but I wasn’t totally impressed by him.  The second song was just awful.  He doesn’t even look like he’s trying anymore.  It’s like he KNOWS he’s got nothing to worry about.  That drives me nuts.  Just stop voting for him ALREADY!  GO HOME JASON!  Paula says: “I felt like you took the same liberty on both songs.  I felt like it was safe.”  Simon says: “This is not the Jason we put into the competition.”

David Cook-

I loved the confidence that Neil Diamond had in him.  I didn’t much like his hair tonight.  It looks like he just got out of bed.   He did a pretty good job on the first song, but it just wasn’t him, and I wasn’t totally in love with it like I normally am.  The second song was much better.  I just love when he sings the slow songs.  He just steals my heart with every single note.  Makes my heart melt.  He did a great job on the second one, and definitely made up for the mediocre performance for the first song.  He’s so adorable.  Randy says: “I’m a huge David Cook fan right now because you rocked the house with that again tonight.”  Paula says: “I feel like I’m already looking at the American Idol.”  Simon says: “I thought the first song was ok, I thought the second song was brilliant.”

Brooke-

What a surprise.  I figured she would be the one that chose a very popular song.  I didn’t like it, one bit.  She didn’t make the first song unique, at all.  She had a lot of fun with the song though, so that worked in her favor.  She really let her personality out, for the first time in the competition, and we’ll  see if that helps her out come tomorrow.  The second song was even more of a train wreck than the first.  I think her time is just about up.  She’s lost her touch, and I think she might see the end of the line this week.  I expected more out of her tonight, I really did.  Simon says: “I really really hated the first song.  It was sort of like a girls night out at the karaoke bar.  {on the second song} This is the Brooke we like, sitting behind the piano and such.”

David Archuleta-

HAHAHAHA…your favorite song Jamie!  He just seemed annoying to me tonight.  I’m not sure what it was, but something about him really got under my skin.  He didn’t add his own touch, so it was nothing special.  It seemed like he was trying to hard in the first song, and I think he would have been better off spinning it to favor his style.  I didn’t like the second song from him either.  He’s too teeny bopper for me, but I’m afraid that’s what is going to keep him in this competition and eventually might even win him the title.  Randy says: “For a young man, you are definitely in the zone right now.”  Simon says:  “It ticked all the boxes.   It was absolutely a great choice.  Check, check, check.”

Syesha-

She looked really pretty tonight.  I think she did a really good job.  Neil Diamond was right.  She has a massive voice, and I think she chose a great first song to show that.  She has had some of her strongest performances the last couple of weeks, and I hope that keeps her in for a little longer.  I wasn’t as impressed with the second song.  She had fun with it, but I think she might have been trying a bit too hard.  It wasn’t bad enough to make this her last night though.  Randy says: “I like you in this, this is where I like you.”  Simon says: “You are a very good actress stroke singer.  I think, however, you may be in trouble tonight.”

My picks for the bottom:  Jason and Brooke

I'm not really sure who I favor going home though.  This competition is getting harder and harder for me to critique!

Sorry the blog is so late.  I was at a concert last night, and didn't have a chance to write!  {there Jamie, there's your apology!}

So, Carly says goodbye.  Was I surprised?  Somewhat.  Although, I did see her leaving a while back.  She had some rough performances, and didn't have the fan base like the rest of the contestants do.  I liked her, but I felt that it was probably about her time to go.  The one thing I didn't see happening was HER leaving over JASON CASTRO.  I mean, come on now America, STOP VOTING FOR HIM.  I don't understand why he's still on the show.  I really don't.

One thing that I did enjoy last night was Ryan's unexpected kiss to Simon.  I about fell out of my chair.  And the look on Simon's face was PRICELESS.  That definitely made my night.  Thank you Ryan!

It's getting harder for me, week by week, to try and choose who I think is going home...so hang with me, and we'll see what happens!  =)

I'll start with sports as usual.  Jake Long signs with the Dolphins, am I surprised, definitely not.  My Astros also ran away with a GIANT win last night, so that was great.  The draft is this weekend, so when I'm not baking in the sun at Six Flags, you'll find me sitting in front of the TV, watching every minute of it.

On to American Idol:

Syesha-One Rock and Roll Too Many

For one, she looked really pretty.  She had a lot of fun with this song, and it was evident in her performance.  She did a really good job.  She showed her vocal range and worked the stage.  I think this song will keep her in the competition this week.  This was a new Syesha, and I think it’s a good thing that she let her hair down and had fun with the song.  Paula says: “You brought the house down right in the very beginning.”  Simon says: “I think this was one of your strongest performances so far.  You showed masses of personality.”

Jason-Memory

He didn’t look good and sure as heck didn’t sound good.  Like I’ve said before, and will continue to say until he is off that stage, I don’t like him and I don’t think he’s any good.  If he didn’t have such an adorable face, he would have been gone a VERY long time ago.  He sings the same kind of song every week, and its getting OLD.  Randy says: “I thought musically and vocally it was a kind of train wreck.”  Simon says: “You were miserable throughout, I was miserable throughout.”

Brooke-You Must Love Me

I knew from the interview with Sir Andrew that it was going to be a disaster.  Poor thing messed up from the beginning.  It wasn’t a TOTAL disaster, but it definitely wasn’t her best performance of the season.  Her notes were all kinds of off and I didn’t think she put her whole self into the song.  She obviously wasn’t enjoying herself or the song, and it was evident in her performance.   It’s almost as if she was trying way too hard.  Simon says: “This is a tricky one.  I think you’re going to be very disappointed when you watch this back.”

David Archuleta-Think of Me

Hmm.  I was torn with this performance.  I liked it, but I didn’t.  He had a pretty wide vocal range, and I liked that, but some of the notes were off and that’s what I didn’t like.  But hey, he kept his eyes open, just like Sir Andrew told him to.  He did act like he was having a hard time with that though, because he kept squinting.  Overall a good performance though.  It’ll keep him in for another week, along with all those little teenie bopper girls voting for him.  HA!  Randy says: “It was the bomb.  This boy’s the one to beat.”  Simon says: “I thought it was pleasant, one of your weakest performance over the live shows.”

Carly-Jesus Christ Superstar

This was probably the best song for her out of her options.  I didn’t like it though.  There were so many notes that were really off.  She did however, have a lot of fun with the song, and that might keep her in the runnings for another week.  She chose a song that’s out of the box compared to the rest of the contestants this week, and that might be what threw me off.  I think her time is almost up though, I really do.  Simon says: “It was actually one of my favorite performances of the night.”

David Cook-Music of the Night

Wow, this was different.  It wasn’t his usual rock type performance.  I did however, enjoy it.  He did a great job by adding his own touch to the song.  He can pretty much sing anything and everything, and that was definitely evident in tonight’s performance.  He also showed off his ability to go from one end of the vocal spectrum to the other.  Jamie, you were correct, he went with Phantom of the Opera, and did a GREAT job.  Randy says: “Dude, that was an amazing vocal performance.”  Simon says: “I think you made the most of the song.  This is not the side of you I like, but you made the most of the song you were given.”

Alright...so my predictions for tomorrow night:

Bottom 3: Jason, Brooke, Carly and I think Brooke might be the one going home.

Well Jamie...I'm sorry your eye candy is gone.  I think she was the best out of the girls this week, and I was shocked to see her leave over Brooke.  This season is just so unpredictable.

This has got to be the MEANEST American Idol season thus far.  Last week they were REALLY rude to Michael...and this week, they messed with the contestants emotions like CRAZY!  2 out of 3 for the bottom three wasn't bad.  I really think Jason should have been there instead, but for some reason, America still loves him.  Jamie and I talked about this today, and we think its going to come down to both Davids...although we disagree on which one is going to take the title.  I guess we'll have to wait a little longer to find out.

I loved how, during the call in portion of the show, how the lady asked David Cook if he was single.  When he said yes, just made my day.  That means I can still go to Tulsa and kidnap him after this season is over!  HAHAH!

I loved that Elliot was there to sing, especially after all he's been through the last month with losing his mom and everything.  Mariah Carey just makes me sick.  She's gorgeous and has an amazing voice.  I'm JEALOUS!  haha.  I liked her performance.
